A vacancy for a Head of "Electrical System MSC / Friedrichshafen" has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space.
The successful applicant will join "Electrical Systems MSC" for the Friedrichshafen perimeter.

The responsibility covers the end-to-end electrical engineering process from steering equipment developments to implementation of electrical engineering tasks for Earth Observation & Scientific and Navigation programs.

The Electrical System MSC is responsible for the overall electrical perimeter of the spacecraft, from requirements engineering to electrical verification of equipment's and electrical systems for satellites.

The departments is in close contact to institutes, SMEs and agencies in order to focus on the industrial part of the value chain and thus to successfully enable missions for space programs.

Your tasks and responsibilities

The focus of the jobholder will be on:

All leadership tasks related to the successful management of the Electrical System MSC in Friedrichshafen and Ottobrunn including:
Full accountability for OTOCOQ deliveries, driving projects to successful completion, control and influence all deliveries for the Electrical Systems MSC
Enable a thorough project setup and collaboration with the internal and external customers.
Leading, controlling and simplifying complex programs and processes to ensure future competitiveness
Ensuring customer proximity and anticipate customer needs
Leading the team dynamics, fostering collaboration amongst programs and sites, commitment to Airbus future ways of working, by driving Agile development, Model Based System Engineering and E2E PLM
Manage and develop the anticipated competence mix in accordance with future business and the Airbus Defence and Space strategy
Management of change processes, ensuring understanding and implications of changes and decisions, deriving clear expectations for each team member and ensuring understanding of individual contributions
Driving the development of new equipments in close collaboration with electrical platform providers in a product oriented manner and a multidisciplinary, transnational team representing the core elements of Electrical MSC
Simplifying and industrializing electrical products while constantly challenging barriers for space qualification including cost.
Driving the development of new ideas for the department in close interaction with internal customers identifying business needs and related solutions
Evolution of Research and Technology activities within the department by successful acquisition and delivery of internal and external studies based on business needs and strengthening the link towards agencies
Cost center planning and control including spanning of staffing

Desired skills and qualifications:

Proven leadership skills
Excellent knowledge in system engineering in Space Projects
Excellent knowledge in project management of Space Projects
Ability to buildup a network in the entire Airbus Group
Knowledge in the endtoend engineering areas mechanical design, electrical, thermal and AIT
Experience with external and internal customers
Advanced level in English and German language, French is a plus
