ArianeGroup develops and delivers innovative and competitive solutions for civil launchers and has expertise in all aspects of advanced propulsion technologies.

ArianeGroup is the prime contractor for the European Ariane 5 and Ariane 6 launcher families and is responsible for both development and the entire production chain up to commercialization through its subsidiary Arianespace, as well as for the rockets of the French Oceanic Deterrent Force.

In developing and implementing innovative and competitive solutions for civil launchers and satellite technology, ArianeGroup attaches particular importance to the highest technical standards in order to secure Europe's access to space.

For the department " JSLG Legal Germany" in Lampoldshausen (district Heilbronn) we are looking for a Legal Counsel (M/F/d) who would like to support us in full-time (40h/week).

As Legal Counsel, you will be part of the Legal team of ArianeGroup GmbH and report to the Head of Legal Germany of ArianeGroup GmbH.

You will be part of the transnational Legal Department of the Group, working in close collaboration with the other lawyers of the Group located on various sites in France.

You will particularly assume responsibility primarily focussed on German and international contractual law aspects of offers and contracts to be concluded for the orbital propulsion systems and components business (consisting of the major space industrialists and agencies around the world) of ArianeGroup GmbH, and more generally with respect to any international business law topic of ArianeGroup GmbH.

The position is based on the shared site of ArianeGroup GmbH and Deutsches Zentrum für Luft
- und Raumfahrt in Lampoldshausen and you will be embedded with the operational teams in charge of orbital propulsion systems and components business as representative of the Legal Department.

Your prime objective is to provide value-added legal advice to ArianeGroup's management and operational team.

Your main tasks:

The position of Legal Counsel (M/F/d) carries a significant degree of autonomy, and you must be able to demonstrate the appropriate level of initiative, credibility and confidence, whilst maintaining an effective and constructive close cooperation within the Legal Department as well as with other stakeholders and partners of the Group.

You will as well work in close collaboration with specialists in various locations (such as representatives of finance, accounting, tax, M&A, antitrust, HR, etc. based in Germany and France) as well as with external advisors.

Drafting and analysing all types of contracts with national and international space industrialists and agencies, incl. prime and subcontracts, cooperation/teaming/consortium agreements, memoranda of understanding and letters of intent, license and technology transfer agreements and others;
Advising the technical and commercial teams throughout the whole project lifecycle, from proposal elaboration to negotiation and, in case of disputes, implementation of the contract;
Proactively contributing to the assessment and mitigation of ArianeGroup's risks by alerting on potential exposures to the management and elaborating alternative courses of action;
Assessing and reducing litigation risks by providing legal advice on potential or ongoing litigation, if need be in cooperation with outside legal counsel selected in close coordination with the General Counsel;
Contributing to developing the legal awareness (including training) of ArianeGroup's operational teams in charge in particular of orbital propulsion systems and components business.

You have the following qualifications:
- is a fully qualified Attorney at Law in Germany ((Syndikus-)Rechtsanwalt/Rechtsanwältin or ass. jur.) or holds an equivalent law degree obtained in another European country (incl. UK);
- is a business international lawyer with extensive expertise in contracts law;
- has a minimum of 8 years of experience practicing either in-house or at a reputable law firm, with preferably at least 5 years of demonstrable practice in international contracts law;
- is result
- and team-oriented, and is motivated to work in an international, multi-cultural and technically and politically complex environment;
- masters English at negotiation level and can draft legal/contract documents in English,
- has a good understanding of economic context and provides timely, concise and business-focused legal advice to ArianeGroup's management and stakeholders to facilitate efficient decision-making
- has strong interpersonal and organizational skills and will take ownership of projects and tasks
