The role is required to lead a team of 8 operational controllers covering RWE's fleet of Operational Assets.

It will ensure the department runs effectively and efficiently and is able to support the controlling demands of RWE's future portfolio of global windfarms.

The role will oversee the implementation of appropriate processes and systems, training and development of the team, supporting Operations initiatives, and development of the global operations controlling strategy.


Your future plans

  • Support the development of the performancecontrolling environment for the Offshore Operations business
  • Lead a team of UK and CE based Operational Controllers
  • Ensure the underlying financials of all operational assets are controlled, analysed, and dealt to budgets and forecasts are understood and communicated to stakeholders
  • Challenge the business on Operational Planning assumptions
  • Install a culture of continuous improvement
  • Develop and monitor financial and operational KPIs
  • Advise BU Directors and Heads of Departments to drive financial performance and value
  • Drive relevant decisionmaking processes within the Offshore Operations area
  • Evaluation of performance measures including support of internal and external benchmarking
  • Ensure team members and Business colleagues are trained in the use of systems, processes, and analysis tools
  • Ensure current time recording and recharging processes and bookings are robust, complete, and reflect the underlying work allocation of the Offshore Operations resource
  • Implement improvements to ensure the processes are fit for the portfolio's needs
  • Support and develop the department's processes surrounding cash and working capital management.
  • Provide controlling support and steering for Operations hub and central fleet initiatives
  • Provide controlling support for takeover from construction, upgrade projects, endoflife, and decommissioning activities
  • Take on the position of RWE Board director on up to 3 UKbased windfarms. This will involve financial and commercial steering to the windfarm, ensuring the best value for RWE, protecting RWE's interest in the projects, budget setting, and approval of spend and strategy at an asset level
  • Responsible for developing the environment, processes, systems, and culture to enable the Operations Controlling team to support a €2bn EBITDA portfolio
  • Delivers four eye principle for signoffs on an asset level as outlined under the DOA

Role Dimensions

  • 8 Operational Controllers, based in Swindon, Hamburg, Coventry and Malmo
  • EBITDA for Global Assets of €1.9bn
  • Up to 3 Board Memberships. Each asset is likely to have an annual budget in the £100m region approval of the Asset Level business plan
  • Influence on external investors as Board director for 3 windfarms
  • Lead on strategy for controlling issues across the global fleet
  • Form highly influential relationships with stakeholders in external partner organisations supporting the JV management team Work effectively with a broad range of internal stakeholders within RWE Renewables, but also with the JV partners and the wider RWE AG organisation

Your profile

  • Masters or relevant Degree in Finance or Economics. Also, a technical degree with a strong financial component is sufficient
  • Several years of experience in the energy business, preferably within the wind industry. A proven background in controlling, finance, and asset operations within a utility or similar is beneficial
  • Very good understanding of financial, technical, and commercial topics in wind farm operations
  • Experience in implementing largescale systems and processes, including accounting and tax implications
  • Experience with the management of joint venture constellations or complex stakeholder management is a plus
