The Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT is Europe's leading centre for contract research and development in the field of laser technology and laser processes.

In the "Data Science and Metrology" department, we take a holistic approach to increasing the productivity, efficiency and quality of laser-based manufacturing.

Divided into three groups "Process Sensors and Systems Engineering", "Material Analytics" and "Computational Methods", we work closely together in an interdisciplinary team.

Through our competences in the fields of data science, modelling and simulation, system and measurement technology, we research and develop solutions for our customers, ranging from sensor technology for data acquisition, data evaluation and analysis to the realisation of adaptive cyber-photonic systems.

What you will do

  • Collaboration in the external presentation and acquisition of new projects
  • Supervision of scientific theses

What you bring to the table

  • Completed scientific university studies in the fields of mechanical engineering, physics, computer science, electrical engineering or comparable courses of study
  • Experience in data science, numerical simulation, optics, image processing, control engineering, realtime operating systems and their programming, C++ programming
  • Desire for a doctorate
  • Confident ability to express yourself in both German and English
  • You have a committed and independent way of working and enjoy interdisciplinary cooperation
