The Role:

Where you fit in

The Shell Chemicals and Products portfolio of assets is transforming into five highly integrated Energy and Chemicals Parks out of which Rheinland is a key player in the European market.

It consists of the two locations South (Wesseling) and North (Godorf) and has started a major transformation program.

The sites will be transformed from a refinery and chemical plant into a Shell Energy and Chemicals Park of the future.

It fulfils and supports Shell's energy transition goals and plays an important role in the energy transition throughout Germany and particular in NRW.

There has never been a more exciting time to work at Shell.

Everyone here is contributing to solve one of the biggest challenges facing the world today:
bringing the benefits of energy to everyone on the planet, whilst managing the risks of climate change.

Join us and you'll add your talent and imagination to a business with the power to shape the future - whether by investing in renewables, exploring new ways to store energy, or developing technology that helps the world to use energy more efficiently.

What's the role?

The Economics and Scheduling (E&S) department is the integrator between the Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland, Trading & Supply and the businesses to optimize the site's gross margin and capture maximum value for Shell's bottom line.

The main interfaces for the Feedstock Scheduler are the Crude Economist within Trading & Supply, the Pernis Crude Hub Schedulers in the Netherlands, 3rd party storage & pipeline companies and Rheinland Operations & Technology.

Your further responsibilities include:

  • Development of a crude schedule for the coming 3 months through interpreting and challenging the planning premises set by the Crude Economist during the volume planning process.
  • Continuous update of crude schedule to react to market opportunities and shifts in refineries + crude availability.
  • Manage the resulting cargo arrival program and crude stocks.
  • Proactive communication of site key constraints to Crude Economist.
  • Regular communication with colleagues in Trading and our Dutch site to ensure demurrage is minimized and margin is maximized.
  • Communication of crude schedule to site operation interfaces.
  • Manage the operational interface to 3rd party crude storage and pipeline companies.
  • Use and improve the existing scheduling processes and tools and support data integration for Digitalization initiatives.
  • Act as leave cover for Senior Crude Scheduler.

What we need from you?

  • University degree in Business, Engineering or similar field (Master's/Bachelor's degree.
  • A working experience in an Operational Business or in Trading & Supply.
  • Track record of being resilient in situations of high uncertainty.
  • Strong networking skills: ability to communicate with stakeholders both on site as well as within the wider Shell organization.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and problemsolving.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English for sharing business requirements, functional requirements, operational ideas, and technical knowledge; good verbal communication skills in German or ability to acquire those within the first 12 months.
