The role reports to the Vice President, Global Tax and Credit (who is based in Chicago IL).

This role will be based in Europe (Germany, Netherlands, UK ideal; US - Chicago or will consider remote) with 6 global direct reports.

ADM companies import, manufacture, market, and distribute products in almost every country in the world.

Some ADM entities are AEO certified and/or hold various customs authorizations (Customs Warehouse, IPR, End-use, Authorized consignor / consignee, Authorized exporter, etc.).

This is a hands-on role where you will be managing the global team, developing and executing the strategy, partnering with the business, and leading the team in connection with implementation of the GTS module of SAP as part of a global ERP transition.

This role will support and advise a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external, including tax authorities and third party providers.

Your Responsibilities

Establishing and maintaining appropriate processes for imports and exports globally
Overseeing the customs process in connection with the ERP transition to SAP and the GTS module (including participation in design decisions, change management, learning, coordination with other end to end processes, etc.)
Overseeing management of customs audits, refunds and duty exemption requests
Developing strategy regarding consistent, global policy on tariff classification issues, and process to manage those classifications
Development of processes to handle origin and valuation issues
Develop strategy regarding operating model and process automation
Oversight of processes regarding customs brokers
Serve as key relationship with the business regarding customs function
Promote development of global data regarding customs function (duties paid, means of transport, brokerspecific KPIs)
Manage global budget
Ensure team performance and development
Developing internal reporting processes
Assist in the evaluation of ADM's controls

Your Profile

Up to date knowledge of Customs law combined with knowledge to translate Customs rules to operational activities
A minimum of 7 years working experience gained in customs function in industry or big consultancy (big 4 or law office)
Proficiency in English
Experience with SAP/GTS (preferably) and/or other customs software systems is an advantage
Excited to take on leadership role in major multinational company that has millions of transactions annually

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to drive discussion with nonexperts
Ability to prioritize workload and work under time pressure
