Associate Director - Financial Institutions Banks

This role is deemed as a Controlled Function role under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.


As a Barclays Associate Director - Financial Institutions Banks, you will be an integral member of the Barclays Coverage Team supporting our relationship directors in managing and expanding a portfolio of Barclays Affiliate clients.

You will assist with relationship management, new business origination and effective risk management of the portfolio by building a number of client relationships across the globe.

Developing a solid foundation in Financial Institution Business and relevant Corporate Banking knowledge will be part of your role.

What will you be doing?

  • Working with internal Relationship Directors and external stakeholders to help in retaining and growing client relationships and the portfolio and delivering banking products
  • Assisting with the client strategy and completing client account plans and keeping client records accurate and up to date in Salesforce and other systems
  • Handling client requests and direct client requests to appropriate departments and team ensuring a smooth client experience and efficient use of Barclays resources
  • Dealing with all aspects of onboarding, Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence process and annual credit review
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationship within the network of clients and colleagues across business areas, product partners, operations, functions
  • Developing relevant sector, client and product knowledge using development tools, learning resources and actively share your skills and knowledge with your colleagues
  • Assisting with annual client reviews and making recommendations to Relationship Directors and building effective working partnerships with internal support functions
  • Ensuring compliance with mandatory Risk policies and procedures relating to governance, regulatory compliance (including Financial Crime), operational and legal risk

What we're looking for:


  • Previous experience assisting clients within Financial Institutions /Banks or Corporate Banking sector in customer facing role covering large corporates or FIG clients
  • Experience within of Corporate Banking product suite: Payments, Liquidity, FX, Lending, Trade & Working Capital
  • Banking skills including the ability to discuss strategic financial solutions, specifically cash, trade and liquidity with peers and senior leaders
  • Experience with of associated risks, Credit risk, compliance, KYC and management of same, Credit risk analysis skills

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Excellent time-management, self-planning, and organizational skills as well as excellent presentation and communication skills, and IT Skills (Microsoft standard packages) and Salesforce
  • Ability to build excellent client relationships & develop internal network relationships to deliver results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and the aability to build relationships and stakeholder management, fluent English German language skills are advantageous
  • Experience with managing risk and strengthening controls, ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirement
