trical Engineering and Mathematics of Paderborn University, the following position is to be filled as

soon as possible:

Assistant Professor - W1 with tenure track W2 (f/m/d)

in Reinforcement Learning
The professorship is initially limited to a period of three years. After a positive evaluation, the employ
- ment relationship will be extended by a further three years. After a successful final evaluation, the
tenure track opens up the opportunity to work as a W2 lifetime professor.

The Department of Computer Science currently focuses on three strategic research directions: secu
- rity, data science, and domain-specific computing. To further strengthen the area of data science, we
are looking for an outstanding personality with expertise in the field of reinforcement learning proven
by publications at international venues in relevant high-ranking bodies. The research focus can be on,
but is not limited to, areas such as deep reinforcement learning or model-informed reinforcement

Research Centers), to actively help shape new projects, and to get involved in existing research insti
- tutions such as the Joint Artificial Intelligence Institute (JAII) or the Software Innovation Campus Pa
- derborn (SICP). The tasks linked to the professorship also include teaching and research on rein
- forcement learning at the Institute for Computer Science. The ability and willingness to work in aca
- demic self-administration and digital teaching are required. The ability and willingness to teach in
German and English is expected after a transitional period.

With its involvement in 3 DFG research units, 9 Collaborative Research Centers, 13 interdisciplinary
research institutes, 9 graduate programs, and 14 priority programs, Paderborn University offers an
