The job

In terms of biomass and diversity, fungi represent a dominant organism group in soils.

They provide important ecosystem services, such as soil formation, element cycling, plant nutrition, detoxification, as well as the exchange of gas and matter with atmosphere and ground water.

Accordingly, they cover a broad sprectrum of lifestyles.

Your tasks

  • Bioinformatical downstream processing of the Illumina MiSeq data
  • Statistical analyses of spatiotemporal patterns of soil fungi
  • Preparation of publications in international journals
  • Presenting of results on international conferences
  • Accessing fungal communities using molecular tools and highthroughput sequencing techniques

Profile:


  • Scientific degree and PhD in biology, microbiology, ecology, bioinformatics, or related fields of science
  • Very good skills in microbial molecular ecology (NGS and Bioinformatics)
  • Broad interest in soil fungi and AMF
  • Very good statistical and modelling skills (preferable with R)
  • Very good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Highly motivated and teamoriented
