The University of Koblenz is the youngest university in Germany - while also preserving a long-standing academic

tradition. A multitude of transdisciplinary research projects spanning several institutions concentrated on a

compact campus favourably affects our university routine. As the interdisciplinary university in the north of

Rhineland-Palatinate with more than 9,000 students, we live the knowledge - transformation - innovation triad in

our four profile areas "Education", "Computer Science", "Culture and its Mediation" as well as "Material and

Environment".

We provide and conduct state-of-the-art teacher-training studies for all school types and maintain the transfer of

our research results to civic society and regional businesses in a resilient and sustainable way. Join an aspiring

university community and aid in advancing our further growth

Faculty 4:
Computer Science offers a temporary

junior professorship
**for Health Data Intelligence (M/F/d)
(W1 per LbesG with tenure track to W2, conferring

with civil-service status) at the Institute of

Computer Science, which is to be filled as soon as

possible.

The Computer Science profile area particularly

focuses on "Data Intelligence":
From various

perspectives of computer science and its

and further develops this complex of topics in

cooperation with regional, national and

international actors.

The Institute for Computer Science at Faculty 4:
Computer Science forms the core of computer

science teaching and research in classical areas of

computer science:
Theoretical Computer Science,

Practical Computer Science, and Technical

Computer Science. It also forms the core for the

English-language master's program "Web and Data

Science" in cooperation with the Institute for Web

Science and Technologies (WeST). Another

personnel cooperation exists with the Institute for

Software Engineering (IST).

The faculty is deepening the profile 'Data

Intelligence' in relation to 'Health Data Intelligence'

(HDI). An appointment process for a first

professorship 'AI with a focus on AI in healthcare' is

already underway. The advertised professorship

for HDI represents a further contribution to the

deepening of the profile HDI and should bring

further accents and impulses to contribute to the

development of the research and teaching profile

in the Faculty of Computer Science. The faculty is

particularly interested in the following topics in the

context of HDI with an emphasis on AI and/or

machine learning:
i) user-centered healthcare

services and process analytics; ii) data-driven

process automation in clinical information systems;
iii) security, resilience, compliance and

explainability in clinical information systems; iv)

medical data spaces; v) visualization or simulation

to support data-driven decision-making processes

in healthcare. Research involves working with

medical, clinical, or healthcare data (e.g., patient

data, medical imaging data, or clinical organization

data) and aims for externally funded projects and

high-quality publications in HDI. The advertised

professorship is also expected to provide attractive

areas related to health, to the 'Web and Data

Science' degree program as well as cross-degree

programs in the Department of Computer Science

and beyond. The development of the HDI profile

may also lead to the creation of new curricular

emphases in existing computer science courses or

to new courses, in which the advertised

professorship can potentially contribute. The

willingness to transfer knowledge and technology

to the region (e.g. MTI Mittelrhein) is desired.
