Melanie Küspert at the Institute of Biochemistry (Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg) we are looking for a PhD student for a timely start (earliest in April 2023, latest in June The 65 % position is payed according to the TV-L E13 tariff.


Our group is interested in development and disease processes in myelin-forming glia of the central nervous system and the role of regulatory proteins (transcription factors and other regulatory proteins) in this context.

In this project the function of specific deubiquitinases on the development, differentiation and pathogenesis of central myelinating glia cells will be analyzed by means of histological, molecular biology, biochemical as well as high throughput sequencing techniques.

We work with transgenic and knock out mouse models as well as with primary cell culture and organotypic cultures of neural tissue.


We are looking for interested and highly motivated applicants with an educational background in biochemistry/biology/chemistry/molecular medicine and with an excellent diploma or master degree.

Experience in the neuroscience field and practical experience in standard molecular biology, cell culture and histology techniques are desired.
