As a
_Legal Product Counsel_, you will play a critical role globally in supporting SumUp's POS tribe to develop and launch legally compliant POS products.

You will collaborate with your Legal Product Counsel peers in the USA and Brazil as well as with other main stakeholders from privacy, compliance, tax and marketing amongst others.


What you'll do:


  • Serve as part of the legal department, reporting directly to the Global Head of Legal Product Counsel
  • Act as a dedicated Legal Product Counsel for the POS Tribe in particular collaborating with the product and engineering Teams, handling all legal aspects for this team draft and review all kind of contracts, including the draft and update of product terms and conditions and product policies
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships (Privacy, Compliance, Risk, Marketing and the Tax Team) to allow product managers and engineers to focus on their core competencies
  • Oversee legal needs for all global POS operations
  • Provide legal advice regarding all kinds of legal areas: e.g. IT law, Tax law (fiscalisation) regulatory law, competition law, consumer law and answer ad hoc legal questions from the POS tribe
  • Remain uptodate on relevant laws, regulations and industry practices so as to provide the best possible legal advice and strategic input on POS product development initiatives

You'll be great for this role if:

  • You are a fully qualified lawyer
  • You come with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience at a technology company or law firm.
  • You are familiar with launching products and advising on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development in the technology space, including fiscalisation matters.
  • You understand the structure and regulatory framework of the payments industry or related financial services.
  • You are comfortable dealing with high volumes and complex projects and can navigate them independently
  • You have a solid understanding of IT law, competition law, consumer law and do not shy away from tax law with regards to POS products either
  • You possess excellent commercial negotiation and drafting skills in English
  • You are capable of translating legal advice into practical, actionable guidance for innovative product and business teams
  • You have strong relationship building and communication skills across a diverse geographical population group
  • You're equipped with strong common sense, sound judgement and a cando attitude
