Job Summary:


This role is responsible for the team leadership of a Quality & Test Engineer group to identify software defects and inconsistencies in functionality against defined performance measures and to progress and verify their correction.

They will implement and perform suitable test processes for projects and develop, implement and audit company and project quality processes that add value.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of test engineers across multiple projects
  • Responsible for resource planning and the allocation of work within the team, to meet project milestones, whilst maintaining project schedules and earned value metrics
  • Responsible for assigning roles, responsibilities and the day to day management of the team. Coach and mentor team members taking a proactive approach in their continual development
  • Responsible for all test related issues in a project: creating test strategies and implementing the necessary processes
  • Play a leading role in Test Improvement and provide training, advice and practical assistance in the implementation of agreed test processes. Encourage crossfunctional working with other departments.
  • Work with project and departmental managers to implement Cubic worldwide test initiatives
  • Prepare and conduct inhouse functional and nonfunctional tests
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of contract testers, collating results and reporting defects
  • Prepare and conduct full system integration tests
  • Liaise with Engineering departments and customers with regard to testing of projects
  • Conduct tests both in house and in the presence of the customer
  • Prepare and issue test reports and update user manuals
  • Keeps abreast of improvements in system test engineering techniques.
  • Drives and implements improvement to testing efficiency, quality, and effectiveness.
  • Provide third level support to customers in different projects.
  • Provide internal support concerning sales, bids and change requests.
  • Coordinate and document software deliveries.
  • Develop, implement and audit company and project quality processes that add value. (quality management)
  • Comply with Cubic's values and adherence to all company policy and procedures. In particular the code of conduct, quality, security and occupational health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from timetotime, as may be reasonably required of them.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Skills knowledge and experience:

Essential:

  • Fluent German and English language skills.
  • Extensive experience within a product test or QA environment
  • Experience of each stage of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Effectiveness within previous role of ensuring software is released with a minimum of defects reaching the customer
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage a team including setting objectives, performance management and development
  • Ability to write good reports and general word processing skills (Word, Excel, Databases).
  • Good day to day planning skills, coordination and control under pressure.

Desirable:

  • Experience of either back office systems for public transport or app/web testing tools
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Use of Project Planning Tools and test supporting tools like JIRA and TestRail
Education and qualifications


Essential:

  • Degree in a software engineering discipline or relevant experience in software testing

Desirable:

  • ISTQB Foundation and Test Manager
  • Degree / MSC in Engineering Discipline
