    Job Title: Hardware Systems Engineer

    Company Overview: Barrington James are collaborating with a dynamic medical device start-up dedicated to revolutionizing neurostimulation technology are looking for a Hardware Engineer to join their team. The company have a ground breaking intra-neural implantable stimulator poised to transform the treatment of chronic pain, with a global mission to enhance the lives of millions.     About the Role: As a Hardware Systems Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of designing, developing, and maintaining medical devices throughout their lifecycle. Your primary focus will be on patient-held controllers and implantable pulse generators, ensuring they meet rigorous standards of safety, reliability, and performance. This role demands expertise in firmware development for medical devices, particularly those employing Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Spearhead firmware development for our devices, encompassing implantable pulse generators and external controllers.
    • Execute schematics, PCB layout, and hardware prototyping.
    • Craft and maintain embedded code in C/C++ for STMicro processors.
    • Implement Bluetooth Low Energy communication utilizing Nordic nRF5340 or similar platforms.
    • Author efficient, reliable, and maintainable code adhering to coding standards and best practices.
    • Produce and manage software documentation, including design and testing.
    • Operate within medical device development standards (e.g., EN62304, ISO13486, IEC60601).
    • Track and troubleshoot software bugs using tools like Jira.
    • Integrate developed software with current and future hardware.
    • Formulate procedures, protocols, and test reports.

    Job Requirements:

    • Possession of a Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
    • 5-8 years of experience as an embedded firmware engineer, ideally in the medical device sector.
    • Profound understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles, signal processing, and communication interfaces.
    • Hands-on experience with microcontroller/microprocessor-based systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and embedded software development tools.
    • Competence in hardware design tools like Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro.
    • Prior exposure to developing code for implantable pulse generators is advantageous.
    • Exceptional English language proficiency (spoken, written, and comprehension).
    • Meticulous attention to detail, with a capacity for independent work and punctuality.
    • Team player mentality with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage overseas subcontractors.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing shifting priorities and meeting deadlines.
