EU/LA3.3 is responsible for the development and underwriting of cyber reinsurance business (treaty and facultative) in Europe and Latin America which is generated in Munich and in various offices abroad.

Our mission is to serve as pivotal partner to our clients and to build strong and sustainable partnerships by creating targeted cyber (re)insurance and service solutions.

Our cyber team consists of very committed underwriters and experts with a wide array of backgrounds and experiences.

We are looking for an experienced colleague who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, brings in creative ideas and proactively pushes topics forward.

The focus of the posted position will be on further developing our cyber portfolio in Latin America and Iberia with flexibility to work on other EU/LA markets as well.


Your job

  • Successfully underwriting (incl. acquisition, structuring, pricing, wording and renewal of) cyber treaty reinsurance business, including negotiations directly with cedants and brokers
  • Developing client oriented cyber solutions, by pitching our product offering including service providers and relevant tools and platforms to clients and by adjusting the product suite to the specific client and market needs, enabling the client to successfully sell and market the offering
  • Constantly enhancing our cyber proposition along the entire value chain
  • Ensuring high underwriting quality and consistency across the team
  • Underwriting single risk business in selective cases
  • Positioning Munich Re as opinion leader in cyber and representing Munich Re on cyber topics (e.g. at client and market events)
  • Closely supporting EU/LA management in enhancing and implementing industry, product and market strategies, as well as in planning and internal reporting
  • Closely collaborating with client management and other relevant stakeholders within Munich Re (e.g. APA, F&C, CU)
  • Supporting an agile team spirit and leading by example a joinedup work ethic

Your profile

  • Very good university degree in economics, mathematics, law or equivalent qualification
  • Multiyear professional experience with relevance for the job profile, in particular in treaty underwriting; knowledge of cyber (re)insurance and/or cyber security would be a plus
  • Strong marketing and negotiation skills
  • Sound ability to present solutions, also for complex issues, geared to the target group
  • Experience in project management incl. exposure to data analytics
  • Creativity and enjoyment working on innovative topics with strong customer focus
  • Willingness to travel
  • Fluent spoken and written business English, German and Spanish essential. Additional Romanic language skills would be a plus
