At the crossroads of neurodegenerative diseases and neuroinflammation, we are offering a PhD position on an innovative approach to combine clinical and preclinical data.

Altered peripheral and central nervous system immune mechanisms are an emerging factor influencing disease onset and course of motor neuron diseases.

The present project aims to comprehensively integrate multimodal data derived from in vivo and in vitro studies in a translational way, in order to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

To this end, the PhD project will have a focus on in vitro analysis of motor neurons, microglia, peripheral immune cells, complemented by clinical data.

We offer the opportunity to work both with clinical data and in vitro models, in the framework of a structured educational PhD program, qualifying for a future scientific career as medical scientists at the interface between clinical and biological research

Die Aufgaben

Working with preclinical in vitro models (2D human stem cell based models including iPSC derived microglia and motor neurons; primary patient derived cells including peripheral blood derived mononuclear cell phenotyping and stimulation and primary fibroblasts)
Application of an array of routine molecular biology analysis techniques, as well as novel state-of-the-art approaches for handling RNA
Preparation, execution and evaluation of Multi-OMIC data (Transcriptomics, Metabolomics, Imaging)
Application of machine learning-based analysis

Das Know-how dafür

Master's Degree (or equivalent) in Life Science and excellent academic performance
Practical and theoretical experience in the field of molecular biology, immunology or cell biology
Very good knowledge of English
High level of motivation, ambition and scientific interest

Experience with bioinformatic data analysis
