Based in San Francisco with offices in Stuttgart, Germany, Shaper was founded in 2012 with a mission of making precision cutting easy and accessible to craftspeople everywhere, beginning first with a handheld CNC router called Origin.
We're looking for a VP of Finance to join our company's leadership team.In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the organization, including managing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
Additionally, you will ensure compliance with accounting and regulatory standards and provide strategic financial analysis to guide decision-making by the executive team.
As the VP of Finance, you will play a critical role in driving financial success and growth for the organization.
You will be responsible for managing relationships with external stakeholders such as contractors and auditors, and you will have the opportunity to shape the financial strategy and direction of the company.
You will also be the primary interface between Shaper Tools and TTS Tooltechnic Systems in Germany, for all financial topics.
Besides Shaper Tools, TTS Tooltechnic Systems owns other brands like Festool, SawStop, and Tanos.A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting is required, along with relevant professional certifications.
We are looking for someone with 5 to 10 years of experience in a finance leadership role, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Tasks- Be responsible for Finance for two legal entities globally
- Fully own accounting, controlling, tax, and treasury functions across the entities in a multichannel business setup
- Manage and develop processes, structures, and systems within a growing Finance organization
- Be a true business partner to the management team by providing insights into the business, evaluating new initiatives, and be a crucial part of longterm business planning
- Be the touch point for our parent company for all Finance related matters
- Lead and manage a team of 3+ employees & external support
Requirements:
About you:
- Fluent in written and spoken German and English
- Being highly organized with a good attention to detail
- Able to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
- Ability to work independently and be eager to tackle the challenges ahead
- Be able to "helicopter" from the strategic level to the operational level
- Great communicator and team player across different cultures, languages and time zones
Experience:
- Have 5+ years of experience in Finance roles, preferably 8+ years
- 3+ years of experience managing people
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or equivalent field
- Broad experience with financial reporting and local GAAP accounting (US & Germany)
- Outstanding proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets
- Previous Startup or tech experience or other fastpaced environments
Nice to have:
- Experience with some of our tech stack: Datev, Quickbooks online, Precoro, Getmyinvoices, BILL, Shopify
- You have completed your CPA or similar qualification
- Experience working with an international team across time zones
- Have a love for creating sawdust and building great woodworking projects
