Valiant has an exciting opportunity for a Chemical/Biological (C/B) Support Element Scientist/Instructor supporting the Defense Threat Reduction Agency Technical Support Groups TSG).

Support Element Scientist/Instructor personnel serve as SMEs on the C/B TTPs, SOPs, and POIs of the TSGs and communicate and assist with training both military and civilian personnel on these plans and procedures.

The individual shall serve as an expert in the use of the C/B TSG search equipment, analytical equipment, communications systems, C/B surveillance equipment, and other mission-essential gear.

The C/B Support Element Scientist/Instructor advises the team and Designated Force leadership on C/B matters and analyzes all TSG-collected C/B data.

The individual assists with training to military and/or civilian personnel on the setup and operation of search gear and communications equipment and directly supports search operations.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Become an SME on all TSG C/B TTPs, SOPs, and POIs and be able to communicate these plans and procedures to the TSG Team within 90 days of award of this contract.
  • Become an SME on all C/B TSG search gear, analytical gear, and communications equipment and assist training military and/or civilian personnel on the setup and operation of this TSG search gear and communications equipment.
  • Update C/B TTPs, SOPs, and POIs, as required.
  • Maintain proficiency on all C/B missionessential equipment.
  • Support military and/or civilian personnel during WMD search operations, up to and including tactical actions during the conduct of realworld operations.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to military leaders conducting reconnaissance operations to locate and confirm the existence of chemical or biological WMD production facilities or fully configured weapons.
  • Assess the data acquired and provided by chemical/biological search teams, advise on the C/B WMD implications of the data, and provide recommendations and followon actions to ensure the force protection of the search teams and the effectiveness of the search.
  • Assist in preoperation check of C/B WMD search teams to ensure each team is properly equipped, understands required force protection actions, and the signatures and indicators of the presence of a C/B WMD facility or fully configured device.
Position Requirements

  • Must be U.S. citizens and shall have a minimum of a DoD TOP SECRET clearance.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Shall be proficient in computer utilization, graphics creation, editing, and word processing.
  • Shall be willing and able to accept worldwide deployments which include elements presenting risks to personal safety. Experience with Theater Response Forces or Special Mission Units (desired).
  • Shall be able to travel on short notice, work nonstandard hours, and take oncall duty.
  • Must complete Department Nimble Elder Initial Training Program within 3 months of hire. The training includes tasks associated with WMD search operations, communications, mobility, surveillance, and force protection.
  • Shall be able to execute worldwide travel in support of training, exercises, and operational support missions.
  • Shall obtain immunizations for worldwide travel and unique TSG mission requirements. Those not available commercially will be provided by the government.
  • Shall be able to perform duties in all weather and climate conditions and be capable of carrying loads of up to 80 pounds over uneven terrain.
  • Shall be capable of flying in utility helicopters for extended periods of time and be available for expeditious foreign travel for extended periods of time.
  • Shall meet medical requirements to wear a protective mask in accordance with 29CFR
  • Shall be medically and physically qualified to perform contingency operations in support of assigned missions in accordance with DODI , OPERATIONAL CONTRACT SUPPORT (OCS).
  • Shall be knowledgeable and proficient in the use of the assigned pistol weapons for purposes of force protection and shall be able to qualify with the M17 pistol in accordance with the Department of the Army TC In addition, the Senior Instructor Special Operations / EOD, the Junior Instructor Special Operations and the Chemical/Biological (C/B) Instructor Technician shall be knowledgeable and proficient in the use of the assigned rifle for purposes of force protection and shall be able to qualify with the M4 rifle in accordance with the Department of the Army TC Further, all contractor personnel shall comply with requirements IAW the Lautenberg Amendment
  • Shall be able to complete and maintain the Government
- provided Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) training, to include use and wear of assigned NBC protective equipment.

  • Will be enrolled in the DTRA radiation safety program. This encompasses working with safety hazards, wearing of dosimeters, and radiobioassay monitoring.
