What can you expect:

Mercer's Investment Solutions relates to a range of investment solutions offered by Mercer across traditional asset classes (such as equity and fixed income) and alternative asset classes (such as hedge funds and private markets).

The solutions reflect Mercer's global best thinking from a research, portfolio construction and investment manager selection perspective.

Since launching the capability in Europe in 2006, Mercer has seen significant investor demand for their access to the capability to the extent that Mercer is now the leading independent global provider of sophisticated multi-manager investment solutions with over $200bn of client assets now invested with roughly $6,7 bn of this currently invested on behalf of German sponsors seeking to efficiently fund their future pension obligations.

The solutions offered rely on Mercer's portfolio management expertise combined with the depth and breadth of Mercer's independent global investment manager research.

For more than 26 years, Mercer has been assessed managers that invest in private markets and has established deep relationships with a wide universe of highly rated managers.

Their dedicated alternatives group of over 240 professionals across 20 global locations, work on $160bn of alternatives advisory mandates for clients - $28bn of assets being under direct implementation.

The European Alternatives Investment Director, with a focus on the DACH region, will have responsibility for bringing Mercer's Alternative capabilities to clients with the goal of delivering best in class alternatives programs across both private market and liquid alternative strategies.

We will count on you to:

Presenting Mercer's alternatives capabilities (with a focus on private markets) and solutions with a focus on clients and prospects across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as supporting colleagues in other regions as required
Articulating Mercer's investment philosophy on manager research, portfolio construction and implementation
Supporting and leading business development and commercial decisions on new solutions for clients and prospects
Relationship management with sophisticated institutional clients that require bespoke portfolio implementation
Contributing to the Alternatives investment team in managing and delivering investment solutions
Liaising with specialist asset class research teams to stay on top of market developments, opportunities and latest manager views
Developing and delivering client communications and updates on alternatives topics
Delivering technical support and advice to colleagues on alternatives topics
Supporting sales and consulting colleagues in commercial discussions regarding the pricing of different service and implementation models
Supporting the wider business in generating intellectual capital and the advancement of Mercers's brand as a firm with a deep Alternatives expertise

What you need to have:

Several years of experience in Alternative Investment products (most importantly on the private market side)
Degree educated and further industry qualifications (CFA, CAIA or equivalent investment qualification) would be advantageous
Proficiency in the German pension, funding, investment and regulatory environment, e.g. investment vehicles
An understanding of consultative selling within the pension and institutional asset management market
Fluent knowledge in German and English
Selfmotivated team player and ability to work independently
Strong sense of ownership, paying attention to detail and ensuring highquality client deliverables within set timelines
Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Willingness to travel across Europe, but particularly within the DACH region
