A position is available at the Faculty of Mechanical, Process and Energy Engineering, Institute
for Mechanical Process Engineering and Mineral Processing for a

research assistant (M/F/d) - tender number 8-E/2023
to be filled from or later, limited till an extension to 12 months is being sought)

Pay grade:13 TV-L

Job size:100 % (Part-time possible, if applicable)

Within the framework of a joint project with strong industrial participation (recycling, automotive, heavy industry), work
is to be carried out on the direct high-quality recycling of valuable material flows from the mechanical recycling of motor
vehicles. The vision of the project is to sort, process and reuse all significant recyclable material flows that they can be
fed directly back into the production process of motor vehicles, i.e. that no downcycling takes place.
At the Institute for Mechanical Process Engineering and Mineral Processing of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, an ap
- plication-oriented sub-project is being worked on, which deals with the sensor-based sorting of aluminium, steel and
plastic mixtures. For this purpose, a new sensor technology of a project partner is used. In addition, fundamental process
engineering optimizations of various steps in the mechanical recycling process are being carried out in cooperation with
several industrial partners from the field of mechanical engineering and recycling.

Your tasks are:

  • Working on a research topic in the field of mechanical recycling
  • Further development and experimental research work on an automated sorting device
  • On
- and off-line characterization of material flows and individual particles from the recycling process, including

further development of evaluation routines for image data

  • Experimental process development
  • Data evaluation
  • Digitization

What you can expect from us:

  • varied and responsible job in the laboratories and at the excellent measurement technology of the institute
MVT/AT; excellent research infrastructure in laboratory locations as well as in the associated particle analytics

  • Integration of your research work into a professional network
  • Industrial relevance of the research work; working at a familyfriendly university with flexible working hours
  • Remuneration according to the provisions of the collective agreement for the public service of the German states

company pension scheme (VBL), health management; further training opportunities; discounted ticket for local
public transport "Job-Ticket"

What we expect from you:

  • Aboveaverage Master degree (or equivalent) in process, mechanical or materials engineering, chemical engineer
- ing, physics, applied natural sciences or comparable

  • Knowledge of the basic processes of mechanical process engineering as well as basic programming
- good English and German language skills (verbal and written) and readiness for further qualification
