networked university with a strong research profile. Our traditional focus areas in research and
teaching are in engineering sciences, mathematics, computer sciences, natural sciences and
medicine. Our economics, social sciences and humanities are indispensable and crucial

disciplines in a modern university in the information society and contribute to our scientific
diversity and interdisciplinarity.

We are looking for a person who represents the field of automation technology in the context of

current information technologies in research and teaching. Applicants should have sound

experience in several of the following topics:
networked automation systems, industrial communication, e.g. 5G and 6G,
Information technology models, methods and architectures for automation devices and

systems,

Product line and variant management of automation components,

and should have both didactic and leadership experience. In addition, visible networking with
industry is expected. Experience in industry-related research and technology transfer is strongly

desired.

The W2 professorship will be endowed by the Institute for Automation and Communication (ifak

management of the Institute for Automation and Communication as an affiliated institute of the
