The (IDO) is located at Helmholtz Munich. The institute is focused on the development of personalized preventive and therapeutic strategies for diabetes and obesity.

The research unit Molecular Pharmacology (headed by PD Dr.

Timo Müller) is aiming to establish new pharmacotherapies to safely and efficiently lower body weight while improving glucose metabolism and is currently looking for highly talented and motivated Postdoc (f/m/x) to support the ERC-funded 5-year-project "TRUSTED" to decipher the role of the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) on energy metabolism.

Responsibilities:


  • Pharmacological in vivo studies in mice on the role of gut hormones (especially GIP and GLP1) on systemic regulation of energy metabolism
  • 2D and 3D imaging using fluorescent microscop
  • In depths neuroendocrine analysis of target signaling using immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry
  • In vivo and in vitro assessment of drug effects on the transcript and protein level
  • Writing of animal protocols and peerreviewed publications
Your qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Biological Sciences or related area
  • Strong expertise in neuroendocrinology, ideally with a background in obesity and diabetes
  • Proven experience in immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry
  • General cell and molecular biological techniques and advanced imaging techniques (incl. fluorescence microscopy, FACS sorting etc.)
  • Detailed knowledge on gut hormones, especially on GLP1 and GIP
  • Great interest and experience to work with mice, FELASA certificates to work with mice are available
  • Experience in writing scientific manuscripts and a solid track record
