Purpose of the Job


The Head of Digital Innovation is responsible for promoting, driving and delivering the innovation strategy of the Digital Health Center of Excellence (CoE), leading a team of innovation managers and data scientists responsible for the delivery of Proof of Feasibility in the field of software projects.

Focus on generating software innovation with creative solutions / disruptive technologies to maintain the leading position of ZEISS Health Data Platform (HDP), in close alignment with Digital Health software teams and other teams within ZEISS.

Your role at ZEISS Medical Technology


Strategy and Execution- Work within a 5+ years' time horizon to accelerate the delivery of ideas with clinical evidence to hand over to HDP Portfolio management for integration in the product roadmap- Define, communicate and execute the digital innovation strategy and the process to gather new ideas- Deliver creative and disruptive technological concepts for software teams to keep ZEISS Digital Ecosystem at the forefront of innovation in digital health solutions- Define right metrics and KPIs for measurement of success of Innovation- Support the digital research team with concept tools and solutions for specific research projects- Drive the development of a cloud community for algorithm developmentBudget & Controlling- Responsible for definition and alignment of budget and meeting the Digital Innovation budget targets- Responsible for budget & resource allocation to the individual projects.

Ensuring reliable operational pro-ject planning and implementation.


People Leadership & Team Management- Lead and develop team members according to ZEISS Leadership principles, ensure proper qualification of team members, drive team development- Continuously assess the group performance and competence.

Propose adjustments when needed (need for different mix, needed / obsolete competence, hire people, etc).

Look at least 5-10 years ahead (group development, technology changes, market changes etc.)- Lead the team with a strong entrepreneurial mindset and spirit, ensuring that this approach is lived within the team.

Profile:


Education- Degree in Engineering (Science, Optics, Medical Technology, Software Engineering, or similar disciplines)- MBA or PhD preferred- Agile/Scrum training desirable.


Work Experience- 10+ years of work experience thereof 5 years in medical device hardware and software product development- Ideally work experience in health care business, preferably ophthalmology- Minimum of two to five (2-5) years of management experience with direct reports- Ideally work experience in health care research and digital products- Proven ability to work in an international work environment and matrix organization.


Specific Knowledge- Fluent in business English; willingness to travel internationally- Strong focus on delivering innovation- Experience working with Researchers and Academics in a business collaboration is preferred.


Other competencies- Excellent communication skills and can efficiently prioritize and align various stakeholders to a common goal- Collaborative skills to work with cross-functional teams- Champion new and innovative ideas with strong analytical skills and entrepreneurial thinking.
