Our Profile:

The IME institute, under the direction of Prof.

Friedrich, covers research and teaching activities in the field of metallurgical process technologies at the RWTH Aachen University, with a strong focus on non-ferrous metals.

The core objectives of the institute are the development of sustainable, environment-friendly and cost-efficient processes for the extraction, recycling and refining of metals and their alloys, as well as a practice-oriented approach to higher education.

A special emphasis is placed on the recycling of metals as a key enabler of the Circular Economy Strategy of the European Union.

Your Profile:

Bachelor's degree and enrolled in an consecutive master's course
Strong proficiency in SQL, MariaDB, and SynologyNAS with the ability to debug and solve issues during development
Experience in UI design to enhance and develop the existing interface program
Expert knowledge in Python, and familiarity with Flet is a plus
Good experience with version control and deployment software such as GitLab, Git, and Docker
Sound knowledge and experience in system design for efficient data management
Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams and present technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage, develop, and maintain the SynologyNAS server with a MariaDB instance, ensuring smooth operation and efficiency
Work with SQL to manage and develop the database, handling data queries, and ensuring data integrity
Develop an interface program between the database and users with specific needs, adhering to IME's data structure and experiment format
Design and create a Dashboard to extract and visualize data using a webserver, making data insights easily accessible to stakeholders
Collaborate with research teams to identify viable use cases for available data, optimizing experiment workflows using Machine Learning and Data Analysis techniques
Present findings, best practices, and collaboration efforts for the digitization of IME, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation

What We Offer:

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 6 months.

The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).

This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 5-8 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 14,00 € per hour.
