About the Job

Topic:
Development and test of MEMS electrochemical sensor

Thesis description:
Today all the talk in the semiconductor industry is about Industry 4.0 and the IoT.

More and more parts used in the daily life are becoming "smarter" by the integration of microcontrollers combined with sensors which are the eyes of these new systems and the topic of this work.

The field of MEMS (micro-electromechanical systems allows these sensors to become widespread due to low cost integration in silicon CMOS architecture.

This internship offers you a chance to work jointly with the TI Kilby Labs and Waferfab, and external parties on a cutting-edge R&D MEMS sensor project, which enables you to practice your out-of-the-box thinking skills and to get out of the comfort zone of your studies.

This is a cumulative thesis or internship offer within our project team. Among the tasks is to gather and analyze characteristics of a novel chemical sensor on wafer

List of positions:

  • Instrumentation of fluidic wafer prober (Test Engineer)
  • Test of electrochemical sensor wafers
  • Statistical analysis of experiments (data science)
  • Improvement of the full automatic test setup
  • Bench level test of electrochemical sensors (Characterization Engineer)
  • Define and execute test routines and stresstests for sensor in package
  • Characterize packaged electrochemical sensors
  • Validate sensor evaluation modules and design new sensor PCBs and modules
  • Document and present the methods and works done
  • Concept, design, assembly, and evaluation of electrochemical sensor demonstrator, e.g. wireless
(Analog PCB/IC Design)

There is a broad field of opportunities in this interdisciplinary project, and you have the chance to decide which task interests you, and autonomously drive to improve.

Minimum requirements:

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field
  • Minimum
    Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in conducting and analyzing (data science) problemoriented experiments
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in both German and English
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
  • Time management skills that enable ontime project delivery
  • Good teamworking
    skills
  • Handson semiconductor expertise (e.g. worked in / near a clean room)
  • Experience in fields of MEMS, labonchip, electrochemistry, or biosensors
  • You are a "maker" and do not fear to further your field of expertise
  • Knowledge in PCB design and validation, programming, microcontrollers, sensors, and MOSFET level semiconductors
  • Expertise in Matlab, Spotfire, Labview, or similar

Our offer for you:

  • Benefit from an attractive compensation
  • Join an international work environment where your ideas count and where you can thrive in a diverse culture
  • Explore a world of opportunities for your personal and professional development
  • Texas Instruments is an equal opportunity employer and supports a diverse, inclusive work environment._
