About the role:


We are currently looking for a Nurse to join our team in this newly created role of Near Patient Team Lead.

This role is to be based around Kaiserslautern and will have management responsibility of the team of nurses located in the vicinity.

This individual is a key member of our TRICARE in-country medical service delivery team in charge of recruiting, onboarding, training and coaching employees, taking the lead on a project and working closely with in-country Near Patient management personnel.

The Nurse Team Lead will have the responsibility to manage both functionally and administratively an in-country team of Near Patient Nurses that includes performance review and improvement, including the identification of on-going training needs.

This role requires the Nurse Team Lead to be living within 45km of Kaiserslautern.


Key responsibilities:


  • Direct supervision of the Near Patient Nurses
  • Supervise the workload ensuring quality and consistency of key medical responsibilities
  • Planning and ensuring the functioning of a 24/7 operational roster and availability of resources within area of responsibility, identifying any gaps in cover and allocating resources accordingly
  • Completion of performance related appraisals and reviews for Near Patient Nurses with support of direct management
  • Point of escalation for the Near Patient Nurses within area of responsibility and escalating to the next appropriate level of expertise where required, in order to facilitate solutions and timely resolution of any issues as they arise
  • Actively participate in recruitment, onboarding and ongoing training of NPNs, identifying areas for improvement and provide coaching and support as required
  • Provide and supervise comprehensive Inpatient clinical case management for a Beneficiary. Completing status reports upon admission and according to contractual requirements or acuity whilst the patient remains admitted to the provider.
  • Visit providers, or assist with calling providers or treating doctors for medical information for geographically remote cases as required.
  • Liaise with providers and patients on an as needed basis, to obtain detailed clinical information including past medical history to allow for accurate ongoing case management
  • Upon discharge, work with the Near Patient Medical Collection Team to obtain the discharge summary and hospital records from the provider, ensuring that the medical information correlates with the information obtained during admission and update the medical records accordingly
  • Establish and maintain the relationship with the provider; leveraging these relationships for clinical, quality and formal reports, attending Hospital Governance meetings as enabled and seeking access and data to inform quality assurance of the provider
  • Assist with translation and triage of medical reports where necessary

About you:


  • Registered General Nurse or equivalent with minimum 7 years of experience with registration to practice in country of work
  • Recognized qualification to minimum diploma level or equivalence in practice demonstrated through portfolio/CV
  • Previous managerial / leadership experience of at least months
  • Able to communicate professionally in English
  • Understanding of German language preferable
  • Experience of working in accordance with a Code of Professional Conduct (knowledge of confidentiality etc.)
  • Experience of Microsoft Office software
  • Understands the medical culture and organization in Germany
  • Active and unrestricted driver's license and own car
