Student assistant (M/F/d)

(6 hours/week, limited to six months)
We are seeking a student assistant to support the work of the Global Freedom of
Expression project. The student assistant will work with MPIL's Global Freedom of
Expression team under the leadership of Mr. Erik Tuchtfeld, in close cooperation with Dr.
Angelo Jr Golia.


Tasks
The student assistant will be tasked with the analysis and translation of judicial decisions
from Italy and Germany concerning freedom of expression online, in particular on social
media platforms. The student assistant is expected to help plan and implement the
related publications that will systematize the findings.


Profile
***Excellent analytical skills;
Excellent written German and English is required;
Good knowledge of Italian is an asset, as are further languages;
Good knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, others);
Knowledge of law and the legal community is essential;
Applicants must be enrolled at a German university.

Desirable :
Prior working experience in legal research; Familiarity with issues related

to freedom of expression online, content moderation, and platform governance;
Familiarity with reading and synthesizing academic research content


We offer
The salary is based on the hourly rate for student or research assistants at universities.
The position is initially limited to six months with the possibility of extension. Remote
working is possible.

Global Case Law Database on Freedom of Expression
international experts. It surveys jurisprudence around the world, critically reviews
exemplary cases, engages in comparative analysis, and aims to identify national,
regional, and global trends. By focusing on the role of the institution of Justice, the
project aims to determine the extent to which the Justice Institutions are referencing
international norms and standards and approaching information and expression as
global in nature and right.
