What you ́ll do
Customers take it for granted that SAP develops and operates trustworthy, secure products and services.

To help it meet these expectations SAP founded the SAP Security Research group, which is looking for students to join its team to work on security topics.

We continuously have new and challenging research topics we work on.

Tasks for an internship range from design and implementations of prototypes of recent research results up to solving small research questions on your own under supervision of one of our experts in the field.

In some cases, we also have bachelor and master thesis topics. Here it is important for us to provide you a topic which also fits the expectations of your university.

We are currently looking for working students, interns, and thesis students (f/m/d) to support us with the following topic areas:

  • Applied Cryptography
  • Machine Learning
  • Web Application Security
  • Anonymization

What you bring

  • Student (f/m/d) at a university or a university of applied sciences
  • Preferred fields of study: Informatics/Mathematics or similar field of study
  • Computer skills: Proficiency in software development
  • Programming: good programming skills in (at least one) Java, C/C++, Python
  • Language skills: fluency in German or English
  • Soft skills: ability to communicate accurately and proactively
  • Others: affinity in Security and knowledge in the abovementioned topics is a plus

Meet your team


SAP Security Research identifies and solves research problems relating to software and operational security, and shares its insights with others, particularly product groups at SAP, to drive advances in security and privacy.

The group stays at the forefront of security research by tracking trends in security, and by co-innovating through collaborative research with leading universities, partners, and SAP product groups.

SAP Security Research's objective is to understand new basic principles in multiple security research areas. We analyze the business value for SAP, refine the method and adapt them for SAP. By building prototypes and blueprints for productization, we support the SAP development teams to consume the research results.


We are a young and dynamic team of post-doctoral researchers and PhD students striving for new ways to protect enterprise systems.

As such, we can support you during your internship on academic as well as hands-on architectural questions.- Additionally, please include a cover letter, school leaving certificates, certificate of enrollment, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships).

Please as well describe your experience and skills in foreign languages and computer programs / programming languages._
