Your Profile:

Student in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering with strong interest in laser technology
Knowledge in FEM thermal and structural analysis
Handson knowledge in Abaqus/ Ansys
Enjoyment of scientific and experimental activities
Independent, goaloriented work
Programming knowledge (for example Python, C++) is an added advantage

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

Your tasks are the assistance in the areas:

Familiarization with the physical interactions of laser and matter
Transient thermal simulation with a moving heat source
Phase transformation and mechanical simulation
Systematic execution and evaluation of experiments

What We Offer:

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 6 months.

The option to extend the contract is available and desirable.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 14-19 hours.
Flexible working hours are possible by agreement.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 12,00 € per hour.
