Key tasks and responsibilities:

Ensures proper coverage and prioritization of the team to support all defined duties of the Application Engineering team.

Develops, communicates, and monitors clear KPIs for the team of Application Engineers and ensures fulfillment of these.


Creates information flow from Application Engineering team back into the kp organization to share key information learned at our customers, such as market and competitive intelligence, product benefits or issues, and key customer contacts.


Collaborates with Quality, Sales, and Ops to ensure customer complaints are getting resolved in a timely fashion and appropriate communication is happening with customers.


In cooperation with Sales, Product Line Management and Innovation, the Application Engineering Manager creates and implements a commercial strategy for our iCenter and pilot manufacturing capabilities to ensure they are fully leveraged for new business development opportunities and delighting key customers.


Defines and implements internal processes to ensure product specifications are up to date and aligned on with both the customer and internal kp operations.

Identify potential external partners (ex. OEMs, allied suppliers, associations, service partners, etc.) to cooperate and co-develop new technical solutions that evolve into new business opportunities and project manages kp's top initiatives in this space.


A cts as point of contact for functional leaders (Sales, Ops, PLM, Innovation) that need information from the field or support on key projects.


Who we are looking for:


You might be a fit if you have a Bachelors degree in plastics, polymers, materials science, or chemical engineering or related field with experience in process engineering, polymer formulation and at least 10 plus years industry related business experiences.


Requirements for this role:

Experience in at least two of the following production process: extrusion, calendaring, coating and lamination


Experience in at least two of the key product areas: pharmaceutical packaging, medical device packaging, label heat shrink sleeve films, and various durable films like those used in flooring, furniture, industrial cooling towers, graphics, or credit card films

Plastics/ film industry experience

Experience leading large projects externally and internally with multiple stake holders, including creating, justifying, scope, and IP

Experience in dealing with quality or complaint management

Excellent leadership skills and people developer

Simplify complex topics for executive alignment and action

Great MS Office, CRM (Sales force), data mining skills for impact

Work in a dynamic environment, balancing short and long term

Experience with stage gate product development processes

Language proficiency - fluent English and German required

Clear understanding of value creation / economic profit metrics

Ability to lead in a matrix organization and build buy-in throughout an organization
