Director Research & Development (M/F/d)

The Research and development director is part of the Leadership Team and responsible for developing long-term strategies for the R&D department and overseeing all aspects of research and development within the organization; commonly leads a team who develops new products, services or processes and maintains existing portfolio that will help the company succeed in the marketplace.

Responsibilities:

Provididing strategic direction and leadership to the R&D team, guiding them towards achieving key milestones and objectives
Ensuring that both the existing portfolio as well as research projects are implemented / carried out in accordance with national and international regulations and required industry standards
Conducting scouting and researching on emerging trends in the industry to identify new opportunities for growth
Compiling complex data about research topics that are popular among consumers, which can then be used to create new products or services that meet consumers' needs
Evaluating the progress of research projects to ensure that they are meeting deadlines and milestones (stage & gate)
Establishing international relationships with key stakeholders, universities, research labs, and other organizations that conduct research in areas related to the organization's interests
Representing BODE/HARTMANN on scientific committee and/or official organizations
Direct/influence the industry via publications, patents, lectures, presence in social media
Taking appropriate business risks to achieve desired results, ensuring safety and project delivery at all stages of development. Guiding direct reports on acceptable levels of risktaking
Developing budgets for research projects based on estimates of costs and potential returns
Reviewing proposals to determine whether they are suitable for funding
Building, managing, and inspiring crossfunctional high performing teams
Challenging the status quo and allocating resources effectively, including budget, personnel, and equipment, to optimize the R&D process and to meet project timelines

Profile

Master / Ph.

D. degree in Biomedical Engineering, Dermatological Cosmetics Industry, Chemical Engineering, Life Science or a related field

Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the HealthCare industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role within Research & Development
Advantage Indepth understanding of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biocides and cosmetics regulations as well as quality management systems, such as GMP and ISO 13485 guidelines
Open minded problem solver and influencer
Significant learning agility to build deep knowledge around our product portfolio
Recognized as a strong scientific leader based on a strong track record of innovation
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop effective solutions
Experience in rapidly adopting new technologies/methods of work to enhance business productivity
Business acumen and Design to Cost experience
Fluency in English and basic knowledge in German is required
