Protein Engineering NGS Research Scientist, Wuppertal(M/F/d)
Bayer is looking for a highly creative and motivated Research Scientist NGS (M/F/d) to join Bayer's Crop Science Division. In your R&D workplace in
Wuppertal, Germany, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists within the R&D organization and contribute to the discovery and
Protein Engineering of innovative enzymes. This two-year position will focus on setting up and running Next Generation Sequencing workflows.
Located in the Screening & Automation Group, you will closely collaborate with Crop Science colleagues in Germany and the US, as well as with
Protein Engineering colleagues from Pharmaceuticals R&D.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Play a handson research scientist (M/F/d) role in setting up and running automated high throughput clonal PCR
Generate and run NGS libraries
Perform NGS amplicon data analysis
Communicate NGS data into crossdisciplinary project teams
Perform secondary NGS data analysis, e.g. for pattern recognition, variant enrichment
Work in close collaboration with technical staff and scientists within the department and across Bayer to drive our

portfolio of product-oriented research programs

WHO YOU ARE

PhD or Master in biochemistry, biology or a related discipline with at least 2 years relevant experience
Experience in NGS (at least amplicon/variant analysis)
Experience with biostatistics using Rscripting/analysis and/or Python
Basic knowledge of molecular biology and cloning techniques
Experience in automation and database management are a plus
Experience in CYP P450 enzymology, bacterial and/or mammalian cellculture are a plus
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, as well as enthusiasm for handson bench work
Fluent verbal and written communication in English language

This is a fixed-term contract for 2 years.
