Arbeiten an der Charité

Located in the heart of Berlin, the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin is one of Europe's largest and most research-intensive medical faculties.

The Ralser's laboratory is world-renowned for its studies that understanding how cellular metabolism, the network of biochemical reactions in the cell, is regulated, how it evolved, and how it maintains functional integrity in the ever-changing environment the cell is exposed to.

This research addresses fundamental problems in the life sciences, where knowledge about cellular metabolic systems is required to develop new therapeutics and to understand the molecular basis of disease.

Die Stelle im Überblick

We are looking for two postdoctoral scientists in the ERC-funded Synergy Project 'Fungal Tolerance', which aims to research drug-tolerant fungal diseases.

The Synergy project "Fungal Tolerance" will address why fungal pathogens can escape anti-fungal substances by mounting tolerance against them.

For the project, we will assemble a library of more than a thousand strains of Candida albicans, the most prevalent human fungal pathogen, expose them to a panel of anti-fungal drugs, and map the compendium of cellular response mechanisms.

We will use approaches from biochemistry, functional genetics and molecular biology to elaborate key mechanisms of cell survival in response to stress.

The daily work will include planning, execution, documentation and analysis of metabolomics and functional genomics experiments using techniques in molecular and protein biochemistry.

The position is ideal for someone with basic computational background for the analysis of large biological datasets and the prediction of phenotypes from multi-omics data.

Scientific employees are given sufficient time for their own scientific work in accordance to their employment relationship.
