Beschreibung
According to the EU Soil Strategy, all EU soils should be healthy
by 2050. Although soils are characterized by a huge biodiversity
(microbes and fauna), soil biodiversity is not integrated into EU
regulations and policy instruments. Especially our understanding of
the ecosystem services provided by soil biodiversity in different cli
- matic zones and under different land uses (agriculture, forest, urban,
industrial and mining environments) remains rather incomplete.

The EU project SOB4ES:
'Integrating Soil Biodiversity for Ecosystem
Services' will test the cost-effectiveness of soil biodiversity indicators
and the provision of soil biodiversity-based ecosystem services to
build better land management solutions that effectively implement
the EU Soil Strategy in an international consortium of 19 universities,
institutes and agencies.
