Scionics is seeking a fulltimeLinux System Administrator to strengthen our service team in
Dresden, Germany.
The Linux System Administrator will join our service team that provides IT support at our client sites and will help to support Linux based infrastructure and services.
As part of this team the Linux System Administrator will, in collaboration with colleagues, design and configure networks, implement firewall and security solutions, work with scale-out storage, and support services in a virtualized environment (VMWare and Docker) including archiving and backup, identity management (IdM), and automated configuration and update management (Ansible).
Although our client sites are primarily in Dresden, our customers come from many different international backgrounds, so our team provides support in both English and German.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support networking solutions, primarily with HP / Aruba technology
- Support and implement monitoring and security solutions such as firewalls and intrusion detection
- Support and implement general Linux based infrastructure services as part of a team
- Support Linuxbased scaleout storage
- Support virtualization services such as VMWare and Docker
- Suggest improvements on processes and procedures
- Working closely with the scientists to help design systems and structures to meet their research needs
Your Profile
- A university or equivalent degree in an IT related or scientific discipline or a good explanation why the career path you've chosen gives you equivalent skills.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Linux system administration
- Basic Linux scripting knowledge
- Networking and IT security knowledge and experience
- The position is primarily onsite and you must be living in or willing to relocate to Germany. Openmindedness and a desire to experience other cultures is a definite bonus as our environment is heavily international.
- Must be fluent in English and have excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Knowledge of German is welcome but not required.
- Ability to work in a team
