Where you fit in
Trading and Supply Products (TSP) is at the heart of Shell's Downstream business.

TSP has the primary responsibility of managing and optimizing the physical supply chain and creating value through proprietary trading.

Our goal is to deliver the right product to the right place on time and maximise the overall margin potential across the different lines of businesses and create value for the Shell bottom line.

Biofuels were introduced in Europe in 2003.

As a major refiner, supplier, and retailer of road transport fuels, Shell is required to comply with government mandates by blending biofuels.

Consequently, biofuels have become an integral part of Shell's Trading and Supply business. Biofuels are a high-growth high-value space for Shell. At the same time, non-compliance with mandates is prohibitively costly.

What's the role?

The Low Carbon Fuels Operator supports continued value generation and supports compliance with biofuels mandates for Shell Operating Companies in Germany and Austria.

  • Support Bio Channel Optimisers and Regulatory to understand the regulatory framework in each country and deliver close monitoring of Shell's compliance position.
  • Work alongside Hydrocarbon Dealmakers and Deal Implementers to ensure that contractual commitments related to biocomponents (physical fuels and paper) to customers are incorporated into bioposition tracking efforts and reconciled with internal/external counterparts.
  • Interface with Commercial Operators to assure biofuels lifting from suppliers (including Shell Trading Rotterdam and/or third parties) are accurately documented in regulatory reporting towards government agencies/departments.
  • Receipt, handling, and storage of biofuels carbon & sustainability (C&S) data from suppliers.
  • Maintenance of biocontent balances required by regulator and certification schemes.
  • Reporting of C&S data (and associated dutypaid transport fuels volumes) to the regulator to comply with mandatory reporting and bioticket generation requirements.
  • Reconciliation of bioticket and fuels lifting positions with counterparties and bioobligation towards the local regulator.
  • Preparing for and participating in internal and external audits.
  • The above will assure compliance posture to meet biofuels mandates in Germany and Austria towards national regulator and contribute to the TSP margin (both Shell Operating Companies and biofuels trading books).
  • Provide dataset and elementary analyses that can be leveraged for hedging decision and shortterm supply chain optimizations.
  • Support the CO2 emissions trading act in Germany and Austria.
  • Comply with TSP HSSE & Compliance standards.
