A major key to success in facing climate change and creating more resilient supply chains is the transformation of feedstocks from fossil resources to renewable raw materials.

Led by the Hamburg University of Technology, the CRC 1615 is developing processes and reactors that respond flexibly to the fluctuating properties of renewable raw materials, thus enabling self-adapting, more resilient process engineering

Project A07:

Highly integrated sensors for in-line detection of granulation state in fluidised bed reactors

In project A07 novel Lagrangian sensor particles will be developed, which allow the measurement of temperature, humidity and applied coating layer thickness during fluidized bed spray granulation based on impedance spectroscopy.

YOUR TASKS

  • Processing of the SFB cooperation project A07 ""Highly integrated sensors for the inline recognition of the granulation state in fluidised bed reactors"
  • Construction of a transparent fluidised bed and nozzle configuration from acrylic glass
  • Production of tracer particles by fluidised bed spray granulation and particle position determination using tracer particles in a transparent fluidised bed by magnetic particle tracking velocimetry
  • Coating experiments with sodium benzoate and a macroscopic sensor particle for insitu impedance measurement of particle size, moisture and layer thickness
  • Validation of the coating experiments by means of offline measurements (particle morphology, size, moisture and layer thickness)

YOUR PROFILE

  • Very good knowledge in the field of particle technology, fluid mechanics and especially in the field of fluidised bed technology is an advantage
  • Independent working style and handson mentality when working on the fluidised bed system
  • Very good knowledge of the German and English language

OUR OFFER

  • We offer you the opportunity for scientific qualification with the goal of a doctoral degree (PhD)
  • Collaboration in a new, futureoriented and interdisciplinary special collaborative research center with close cooperation with the Institute for Mechatronics in Mechnical Engineering and the Institute for Microsystems Technology at TUHH
  • Collaboration in a highly motivated and committed team
  • Research in an innovative, progressive and industrially very relevant field
  • Participation in national and international conferences
  • Flexible and familyfriendly working conditions, 30 days of vacation per year
  • Special conditions in selected sports and fitness clubs
