and evidence-based consultation gives our employees unique access to national and international stakeholders in politics and business.

The position is in the Competence Center "Sustainability and Infrastructure Systems" and available at the earliest opportunity.

The Competence Center conducts research on transforming production and consumption patterns in the direction of sustainability. Our work explores how sustainability goals can be coordinated across different sectors (including infrastructure).


What you will do

  • You will lead national and international research and policy advice projects to successfully shape the sustainability transformation and work in a multidisciplinary team on a sustainable future.
  • With your (techno) economic expertise, you will analyze the costs and benefits of environmental innovations, their diffusion and potential policy options.
  • You will estimate the impact of environmental innovations on economic parameters (e.g. gross value added, workforce requirements and international competitiveness).
  • Your empirical research will be based on quantitative and qualitative data sources such as patent and foreign trade databases, expert interviews, surveys and stakeholder workshops.

What you bring to the table

  • You have a doctorate in industrial engineering/business mathematics/business physics or economics (e.g. economics, business administration, environmental economics) or in a related discipline.
  • You are genuinely interested in analyzing the conditions, opportunities, and limitations of environmental innovation and shaping sustainability transformation.
  • The ability to work as part of a team, very good intercultural communication skills and interest in scientific and interdisciplinary research and publishing are required. You are able to present your research results both orally and in written form in a convincing manner and have a good command of German and English.
