FCAS2023 Remote Carrier L1 System Architect (d/f/m)

Introduction to FCAS

FCAS (Future Combat Air Systems) will be the defence programme of the future for Europe and will ensure Future Air Power supremacy, the key to European and national sovereignty.

In the most complex threat scenarios, FCAS will deliver increasing operational effects by leveraging the collaborative capabilities of connected platforms, bringing the next level of Air Power in highly denied environments.

The exciting and growing world of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) has formed one of the key pillars of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) project - the Remote Carrier pillar.

The future operational products are being defined. In parallel, remote carrier demonstrators will be built and test flown to mature technology.

In the frame of the next step of FCAS, Phase 1B, we are seeking a System Architect to work on the Remote Carrier project.

Your tasks & responsibilities
The position will be located within the FCAS plateau in Manching. Travel to customer, suppliers, external meetings, and periods of deployment for flight demonstration activities are foreseen.

Activities:

Elaboration of system tradeoffs and support the overall system architecture definition
Capture, harmonize, validate and cascade requirements
Harmonize requirements and design with other segments / functional chain architects and engineering disciplines
Model technical systems using MBSE and Virtual Engineering methods
Define, manage and harmonize interfaces
Support integration, validation and verification activities
Act as Technical lead and Work Package Manager for system design activities

Your profile:

Engineering degree in aerospace, electrical engineering or similar
Background in the design and development of aeronautical systems
Knowledge in Model Based System Engineering and Agile Ways of Working
Experience in design, development, qualification and integration of equipment / systems in the aerospace environment as well as understanding associated processes
Ability to synthesize information and understand complex situations
Willingness to work with different engineering entities and companies in a multicultural environmentWork style characterized by autonomy, proactive behavior and cooperation
