Duties:


  • Conduct comprehensive substance abuse evaluations to diagnose and/or counsel patients
  • Use crisis intervention counseling to treat substance abuse patients.
  • Use evidence based clinical approaches to assist patient with substance abuse and/or cooccuring disorders.
  • Collaborate services with other providers and/or outside resources to support patient care.
  • Work with command in addition to referring clinicians to ensure seamless patient care upon discharge

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction
  • A Personnel Tier, 1, NACI Security Investigation is required
  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic reverification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • This position requires you to be oncall.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • Must have an unrestricted clinical License to practice as an independent practitioner (LPC or equivalent, LCSW or LMFT) any US State. An IC/RC reciprocal Substance Abuse Certification is preferred
  • Heavy lifting of 20lbs required.

Basic Requirements for Social Worker (Substance Abuse)**:

Degree:

Master's degree (or higher degree) in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Licensure:

A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical, (LPC or equivalent LCSW or LMFT), license to practice independently, offered
- by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction is required. A Substance Abuse Counseling Certification (IC&RC reciprocal) is preferred.

Grade Requirement:
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal
- service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
  • This is a(n) Medical Career Field position.
  • If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a spacerequired basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation , the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI and DoDM
  • If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a spacerequired basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation , then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI and DoDM
  • Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a spaceavailable and reimbursable basis only.
  • Medical and dental care may be provided by host nation providers. The availability and level of care at host nation medical and dental facilities will vary by location.
  • Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions.
