Responsibilities:

Familiarization with the basics of sealing technology and dynamic sealing elements based on thermoplastics
Familiarization with suitable open source FEM structural mechanics software (e.g. CodeAster, CalculiX)
Development of software for automated design optimization (Python)
Selection of a design & experimental comparison
Optional: Transfer to an ML surrogate model
Documentation and interpretation of test results

Qualifications:

You are studying physics, mechanical engineering or a related field
Basics in the areas of FEM, structural mechanics and software development
Analytical way of thinking and working
Motivation and fun when familiarizing yourself with new topics
Teamwork and regular coordination with stakeholders
Previous knowledge of relevant open source tools is a plus (e.g. Python, CodeAster, CalculiX, Linux)
You have very good spoken and written knowledge of German and/or English
