Where you fit in
Within Project and Technology (PTX/T) organization, we have a team of Product Application Specialists (PAS) supporting Global Account Managers.

To increase technical intimacy with Global Key Account customers to enable credible and strong technical relationship, that enable retention of existing business and support growth ambitions.

Currently, we are looking for Global Product Applications Specialist on gas and stationery engines to provide high level technical support required for specific Power sector OEMs and power utility and service companies globally.


What's the role?
This position will participate in strengthening operational technical knowledge between Technology and Global product management.

Operational portfolio management teams to front line technical and sales teams; including knowledge received from and passed to OEMs and customers.

Being both proactive and reactive information channel and provider of training/coaching to Shell technical staff.


The PAS role is both reactive to customer problems (upon invitation from front line staff) and pro-active in developing internal and external relationships.

Coaching front line staff, providing marketing support - such as assisting with new product launches, field trials and support to the region in strengthening technology leadership through initiatives, such as technology forums, sector seminars.


Principal Accountabilities:
Provide support for Global Key Account (GKA) core teams, for specific power sector customers and Management of Customer Relationship

  • Build close technical working relationships with an agreed customer group and OEMs as defined by the Lubricants OEM or Marketing management.
  • Influence OEMs use and advocacy of Shell products. Work with the OEMs to develop 'reasons to believe', case histories and enable field trials in the marketplace
  • Passing key information to impact Shell's business through the PAS network, product development, marketing and strategic product management teams as appropriate
Coordinate product field trials on new and existing products with Technology, local technical/sales - OEMs and customers. Analyze results, develop and present "reasons to believe" data in variety of written reports for both technical and commercial audiences or via verbal presentations

Marketing Support

  • Work with global marketing teams to develop product/services CVPs for specific segment. Support marketing teams (Global/local) in the delivery of Growth Initiatives
  • Manage aspects of feedback loops to Global Marketing and Technology (e.g. through Discovery Prisms) regards trends and issues associated with technology to support identification of opportunities for next generation products and services
Application Problem Solving

  • Interface is required with global product management, operational portfolio managers, product development teams, key account sales, LTA, specific OEMs and their service agents and legal/insurance representatives as appropriate; to reach and implement an appropriate solution
Coaching/Training

  • Represent Shell Technology at Technology Forums, Customer Seminars and Technology Roadshows by means of presentations and customer engagements at these events
  • Produce tools and documents to support ongoing technical learning and understanding in these groups, ensuring their knowledge remains up to date
  • Provide coaching on value identification, quantification, and Demonstrated Value Record (DVR) development, acting as a peer review for defined product area
Knowledge Management

  • Continue updating technical knowledge in all relevant areas through close connection with technology development teams. Transfer the learning from front line back to technology team (especially) changes and future needs from OEMs and key accounts. Be active member of technology groups to support the program development as required. Exchange learning and new knowledge with PAS network and the field via coordination and running of Discovery Prisms (Expert Circles)

What we need from you

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is preferred
  • Relevant experience of power generation lubricants most specially gas engine oils and stationery marine heavy fuel oil engines
  • Relevant field experience in maintenance and service of gas engines and HFO engines. Has proven ability to manage customer expectations and build up relationship with mutual trust
  • Experience of leading, coaching, motivating & developing a team. Track record of working with senior stakeholders both internally (e.g. with GKAs, core account teams, product triangles) and externally
  • Proven ability to work in teams (local and virtual)
  • Proven communications skills, written and verbal ability to converse and develop technical communications in English and sound handling of English language (written and spoken)
  • Willing to travel (up to 30%)
