The Hertie School in Berlin prepares exceptional students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society.

The school offers master's programmes, executive education and doctoral programmes, distinguished by interdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, as well as outstanding research.

Its extensive international network positions it as an ambassador of good governance, characterised by public debate and engagement. The school was founded in 2003 by the Hertie Foundation, which remains its major funder. The Hertie School is accredited by the state and the German Science Council.

We are seeking to fill the following position:

Associate Administration - Jacques Delors Centre (f/m/div)
Part-time (30 hours/week)


This position is located at the interface between the administration of the Jacques Delors Centre, one of five Centres of Competence at the Hertie School, and our central Third Party Funding unit.


Your tasks:

  • Support and administration of acquired third party funded projects at the interface to the areas of fundraising, finance / accounting, legal / human resources; including support of time records for project staff
  • Administration of grants e.g. budget planning and auditing, preparation of calls for funds and financial reports, personnel planning, compliance with funder's guidelines
  • Preparation financial plans and forecasts and forwardlooking advice on budgetary matters
  • Administrative responsibility for on
- and offboarding of new staff members

  • Support on internal and organisational matters of the centre

Your profile:

  • A successfully completed university degree (Master's or equivalent), preferably in the field of economics or social sciences, or a successfully completed commercial vocational training with an additional qualification or experience in budget planning and management as well as fundraising
  • 2+ years of professional experience with comparable tasks (ideally in a nonprofit organisation)
  • Very good written and spoken German and English, at least one of which must be business fluent
  • Very good database and IT skills (MS Office; especially Excel)
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and / or controlling
