Fabrication and testing of coir fiber reinforced starch composite

• Composite samples prepared on various combinations by varying combinations by varying the fiber length and fiber composition.
• 20mm (50%) fiber composition has yielded optimum results in tensile test, flexural test, water absorption test, biodegradability test.
• Water absorption in the composite decreases with increase in fiber composition.
• Coir fiber reinforced with starch increases tensile strength, flexural modulus. Proposed that coir fiber reinforced starch composites provide a replacement for non-load bearing members in automobiles.
