Ines Velasco Martinez

Hi!
I am an Aerospace student at the Technical University of Munich. I have a passion for Computational Fluid Dynamics and software development.

I am fluent in three languages (German, Spanish, English) and I speak some Italian, as well as Korean.

I worked more than two years for SimonsVoss Technologies where I programmed test benches for mechanical testing. I also have experience working in a workshop (milling, drilling, soldering). Further, I have been part of the TUM Hyperloop Aerodynamics team since 2022. Within the team, I research the aerodynamic properties of the Hyperloop system with a special focus on pressure drag behaviour. I usually program in Python, Matlab, or C++ and work mostly with Ansys Fluent, but I have experience in a bunch of other engineering software.

I spent two semester abroad - one in South Korea (Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology) and one in Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid). There, I was able to gain some insights into the international Aerospace industry and work with researchers and students from all over the world.

In 2022, I completed an internship at the DLR (German Aerospace Center) Institute of Propulsion Technology (Department of Numerical Methods) in Cologne, where I further expanded my knowledge on CFD..

I will finish my Bachelor's degree in two months at the Technical University of Munich and start into my Aerospace Master's degree. My thesis investigates drag behaviour for different velocity profiles in the Hyperloop system with the intent to create a surrogate model for drag prediction.

On my thesis: I investigate how pressure drag develops when we have differing acceleration profiles. I try to figure out if there is a way to model how the drag increases with constant or in-/decreasing acceleration.
