Marta Pisano

My name is Marta Pisano, I'm 25 years old and Italian. I currently live in Essen, Germany. I completed my studies a few months ago at the Folkwang University of the Arts, earning a BA in Dance. I've been studying dance professionally since I was about 10 years old. I've experimented with various professional methods that are part of this artistic journey. I have always lived abroad since I was 14. I studied at an Italian dance high school and national academies of modern and contemporary dance. At the age of 16, I also taught in a dance school, I had a class for girls, between 7 and 10 years old and together we had an improvisation workshop, transmitting to them the pleasure of loving themselves in their art and also respecting that of others, a place free of negative judgment, above all sharing ideas. I worked in different dance companies for a few years in Italy and then I also had a two-year experience in Paris with tours. At Folkwang I had the opportunity to participate in several performances by big names such as Sasha Waltz-InC-Stephanie lake Dance company- Colossus-Juan Kruz De Garaio- Passaggio Rotto-Stepanie Tiersh-Henrietta Horn-Collaborations with TanzTeather Wuppertal (with whom I am currently working for an artistic production Sacre du Printempes which will end at the end of October). Choreographic courses and Improvisation. I have created two choreographies, including my latest solo, "Sehnsucht," which was featured in tanzmegazine and performed at other festivals. I come from southern Italy, where I studied and explored traditional dances such as Tarantella and Pizzica, which I find therapeutic and fun to teach, establishing a sense of community and trust in the children's groups I have often taught. I enjoy combining dance with other disciplines, such as other forms of art, painting, music, film and photography (other great passions that I am trying to explore further), the use of voice and acting. What is fundamental for me is creating safe spaces where we can be respectful of ourselves and others, where we can freely communicate our needs as a group. Communication is crucial, the exchange between me and my students. I don't want to simply be a figure they have to follow because of my "position," but rather create a neutral space where we are all equals and there is trust, where art and love exist together.
