Local Unit & Position Description:
DNV is looking for a person that provides subsurface H2 Storage expertise and particularly Salt Caverns Storage.

This expertise will be needed to help support our customers, such as operators, service companies and government bodies on subsurface aspects of H2 storage, and can also include CO2 storage and gas storage.

The work can range from providing guidance on recommend practices and international standards, as well as certification, verification and advisory services.


The work tasks may include:

  • Deliver technical solutions and services to customer challenges related to subsurface storage

This can include:

  • Integrity assessments
  • Risk evaluations
  • Geomechanical evaluations
  • Assessment of repurposing of wells.
  • Assessment of Gas storage performance
  • Lead and support the production of technical reports for customers, and, where possible, identify further business opportunities for DNV
  • Play a role in targeted business development efforts through proposal development and fostering positive relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Interact with geology specialists
  • Actively contribute to service delivery as specialist and / or project manager.

Position Qualifications:

  • MSc or PhD level of a relevant technical field in Earth Sciences or Engineering, such as geomechanics, geology, mechanical or chemical engineering, or similar
  • A recognized specialist in Salt Caverns storage with deep technical expertise in of all aspects of salt cavern life cycle
  • Dedicated, possess excellent interpersonal skills, communicate well within and between teams and be able to work to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team, lead and manage delivery by prioritising responsibilities and showing flexibility in response to change
  • H2specific well integrity and well operations experience.
  • German and English language fluency.
