The Institute for Experimental Cardiology studies the molecular basis of different forms of cardiac diseases and develops novel therapeutic approaches.

We are embedded in the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK), the Collaborative Research Center 1550 and the Helmholtz Institute for Translational AngioCardioScience (HI-TAC), providing an ideal infrastructure for innovative translational research.

Your Responsibilities:
***- Perform small animal surgery procedures (e.g. aortic banding, implantation of osmotic minipumps) in accordance with established protocols

  • Perform cardiovascular phenotyping of small animal models (e.g. echocardiography, pressurevolume loop measurements)
  • Manage and coordinate breeding programs and mouse colonies for genetic mouse lines using TierBase database
  • Plan, organize and coordinate all procedures in communication with the small animal core and the involved scientists
  • Maintain standardized accurate records of experiments and results
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulations related to animal welfare

Your Profile:
***- Completed training as biological-technical assistant or comparable

  • Experience in small animal work in a laboratory setting, in particular small animal surgeries, and knowledge of animal welfare standards and animal care requirements
  • Familiarity with breeding protocols and genetic mouse lines
  • High level of commitment, flexibility and strong sense of responsibility
  • Pleasure in working with a diverse team in a collaborative research environment
  • Strong organizational, timemanagement and communication skills
  • Fluency in German and English
