Division of Infectious Disease and Tropical Medicine for work in a One Health project.

The Selva Maya, in the border zone between Belize, Guatemala and southern Mexico, constitutes a hotspot of biodiversity that is being threatened by ecosystem fragmentation and human encroachment, which in turn may create opportunities for spillover events, endangering human and wildlife health.

This project applies a One Health approach to study ecological, demographic, and epidemiological factors that may contribute to the risk of exposure to wildlife-transmitted rabies in the Selva Maya region of Mexico.
