Duties:


  • Utilize complex rehabilitation principles to conduct comprehensive substance abuse evaluations.
  • Collect data to evaluate treatment outcomes.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling.
  • Document case findings, diagnoses, and recommendations in a clear and concise manner

Conditions of Employment:


  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete and maintain credentialing and privileging requirements in accordance with Army Regulation 406
  • This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 5% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
  • This position requires lifting of up to 20 lbs.

Who May Apply:

US Citizens_Basic Requirements for Social Worker (Substance Abuse):_**
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:


Experience required:
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job


Specialized experience is defined as:

- in a Social Worker Substance Abuse environment, which includes: 1) conducting clinical assessments of substance abuse patients; 2) formulating behavioral health treatment plans; and 3) providing professional counseling to substance abuse patients. _


This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).


  • Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Licensure:

A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S.

State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction is required.
_This position requires 1 year of experience working in the field of substance abuse.

Time in Grade Requirement:

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
  • If an employee brings a child, toddler or infant to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a spacerequired basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation , the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI and DoDM
  • Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a spaceavailable and reimbursable basis only.
  • Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions.
  • Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI volume 1250.
